#31: "For Sale by Owner", watercolor, 15" x 11"

Last night the Wednesday Night Painters met at Fisherman's Terminal for plein air painting. This bicycle and it's shadow on the deck of a run-down old boat caught my eye immediately. One of the painters in the group has been experimenting with drawing her composition using red paint. I decided to give it a try. It was a very pleasant evening standing in the sun on the dock making this painting. This is my last posting for at least a week. I'll be in Mexico. Hasta la vista! My Ray for the Day is "For Sale by Owner".

#30: "Mexican Pots", watercolor, 20" x 15"

In two days I am leaving for a week in Mexico. I painted these pots last time I was there. They remind me of the light and the warmth of Guadalajara. I will be taking my watercolors with me, but will not be able to post paintings. There will be just one more posting before I go. The Ray for the Day is "Mexican Pots".

#29: "Sea Songs", watercolor, 8" x 6"

Most of the last year I sailed was on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I sailed with Virginia and Jo. We had a very happy and playful boat. I wonder what became of Jo, the singer in the painting. I didn't have much time to paint today, so this little quickie is a bit over painted. Funny how that works. The Ray for the Day is "Sea Songs".

#28: "Happy at the Helm", watercolor, 15" x 11"

It was another perfect day in Paradise. We were leaving Moorea after a sweet morning swim, heading out for Tonga. This was about 21 years ago, and seems like yesterday. A dear friend is helping me edit the stories I wrote during this time. I am making paintings about this Grand Adventure, and am planning to compile stories and paintings into book form. It's all creative. It's all fun, though not without challenges. The Ray for the Day is "Happy at the Helm".

#26: "Rowboat Guy", watercolor, 15" x 11"

While we were painting at the Wooden Boat Center the other evening this guy rowed by. I couldn't resist taking his photo....and painting him today. This scene is also very reminiscent of my sailing days. Our dinghys were our family cars. We went everywhere in them as we were usually anchored some distance offshore. Rowing a dinghy can be a very peaceful experience, as I have expressed in this Ray for the Day, "Rowboat Guy".

#25: "Peaceful Reflection", watercolor, 22" x 15"

Last evening The Wednesday Night Painters (I've been painting with this group for nearly 10 years!) met at the Wooden Boat Center. The late afternoon was warm, calm and peaceful.  The serene mood, beautiful shadows, and wonderful reflection of this beautiful rowboat captured my attention. It felt great standing in the sun and painting this scene. I just thought of another title, Rhapsody in Blue. In this painting my color palette is more restricted than usual. I kept wanting to add more color, but the painting wouldn't let me do it.  My plein air painting, Peaceful Reflection is the Ray for the Day.
